Holmes Partnership – Teacher Leadership Network
The Holmes Partnership® Teacher Leadership Network (HP-TLN) is a network of teacher leaders and those who support teacher leadership at the P-12 level.
The purpose of the HP® -TLN is to:
Promote teacher leadership in schools that work in partnership with colleges and universities for the improvement of teacher education and student learning.
Encourage the continuing education of teacher leaders in schools, with particular attention to graduate programs and professional development that are based on the propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Recognize the contributions of teachers who are clinical practitioners in local partnerships.
All teachers involved in local partnerships are encouraged to become active in the HP-TLN, including all Holmes Scholars®. Those who attend the annual conferences have opportunities to participate in sessions to share best practices and to learn from other teacher leaders.
The timeliness of this network is important with the field of teacher education focusing on the preparation and the retention of teachers as well as federal legislation such as the No Child Left Behind Act placing added emphasis on teacher education and professional development. Teacher leaders are vital to these discussions for their schools and universities.
A teacher leadership award, in honor of John Grossman, a long-time board member and teacher leader, will be implemented in 2011.
